Great Games turn me ON…
We played a friendly(FLOORBALL) after the league was over. I must say, this is one of the nicest games ive ever played… everything just flow. And from todays friendly match… learnt a lot of stuff. I got to play my favourite Center role… Its like a dream come true.
Err.. Center is like a midfielder in football. In floorball, there are 3 positions, namely Forward, Center, and Defender.
Ppl think tat im a Forward…cos i play as a forward for my team… but actually my desire is to play as a center… ill play slightly more focused and a little more calm as a centre… As a forward i tend to get more aggressive, run a lot, one man show dribbling …. cos im just thinking of scoring… Forward is kinda fun, cos ure in the position to score goals… but i still prefer a center role…. cos… i like the view and the many options that i have. And best of all, you get to be the MASTERMIND of the team. But im not sure if i can be a good center for the FRONTLINERS team… cos theres just so many good players around. Need to compete for the spot, plus… the center role is a very demanding role. Its supposed to be the toughest role on the court. I dunno if i have what it takes… but… surely, im working towards it. Wish me luck.
In this game, Pastor Edward(my youth pastor and national floorball coach).. was the most threatening player on the court. But i enjoyed every threat that he posed on our team. He made me think on the court. Especially during Face-Off(Face-off is begining of the game or when after a goal is being scored). It was mindgames all the way. I dun know the correct technique to steal a Face-Off. So gotta use my wits to beat the experienced and skill Pr. Edward. There were times he won, and sometimes i won. It was all about anticipation and decision making. U can roughly guess the opponents move by their facial expression, body language and technique displayed.
We played a great game. Myself as Centre, Chin Siang as Forward-Left, Tabitha as Forward-Right, Kuan Yang as Defender-Left and Sabrina as Defender-Right. Everyone played as a team. We were a team made of freshies. Me and Kuan Yang just started playing for 4 months, Chin Siang 2 months, Tabitha.. mayb just a few weeks.. and Sabrina who has been out for a year due to injuries.
It was cool playing an offensive game against the stronger team which consist of Pr. Edward, Serene Tan, Irwin Choo, Melissa Leng, Jay Kum and even Petit …
In terms of experience, exposure and skill level, they had the upperhand. But… we played our hearts off. Putting everything that we had against the GALACTICOs.
Nice game. Melissa scored the most against us. haha.. her long shots kill us most of the time. Well.. we had no Goalie..
Kuan Yang had to block her shots with his trademark- "Peter Lim" style body block, haha i dunno wat u call tat.. This guy is my favourite defender. Reliable and hardworking. U can trust him on the job. He is after all my "MR RELIABLE". I realised that in a team, everyone must trust each other, only then, we can play out our true game. Because i can trust Kuan Yang, i am more daring to try new ways and styles beyond conventional ways of penetrating the oppositions defense.
When both Tabitha and Sabrina scored, i cant believe it that i actually shouted " I LOVE U".. We were crazy. Chin Siang was running Amok all the way… attacking from the wings on both sides running with the ball, trying to penetrate the stiff defense of the opposition team. His workrate is first class.
Most of my attacks were futile against the likes of Jay Kum, a good goalie..
But after a string of misses, i got my breakthru.. scoring with a back-hand which i was practising the whole week.
Pr. Edward suggested that for the last goal, whoever concedes the goal, the whole team will have to pump 20 times. I was afraid at first. But then… guess wat.. Sabrina scored the killer tat put their whole team into workout of 20 pumps.
Wat a game. Wish to have more of this sort of games in times to come…
