Great Games turn me ON…

We played a friendly(FLOORBALL) after the league was over. I must say, this is one of the nicest games ive ever played… everything just flow. And from todays friendly match… learnt a lot of stuff.  I got to play my favourite Center role… Its like a dream come true.

Err.. Center is like a midfielder in football. In floorball, there are 3 positions, namely Forward, Center, and Defender.

Ppl think tat im a Forward…cos i play as a forward for my team… but actually my desire is to play as a center… ill play slightly more focused and a little more calm as a centre… As a forward i tend to get more aggressive, run a lot, one man show dribbling …. cos im just thinking of scoring… Forward is kinda fun, cos ure in the position to score goals… but i still prefer a center role…. cos… i like the view and the many options that i have. And best of all, you get to be the MASTERMIND of the team. But im not sure if i can be a good center for the FRONTLINERS team… cos theres just so many good players around. Need to compete for the spot, plus… the center role is a very demanding role. Its supposed to be the toughest role on the court. I dunno if i have what it takes… but… surely, im working towards it. Wish me luck.

In this game, Pastor Edward(my youth pastor and national floorball coach).. was the most threatening player on the court. But i enjoyed every threat that he posed on our team. He made me think on the court. Especially during Face-Off(Face-off is begining of the game or when after a goal is being scored). It was mindgames all the way. I dun know the correct technique to steal a Face-Off. So gotta use my wits to beat the experienced and skill Pr. Edward. There were times he won, and sometimes i won. It was all about anticipation and decision making. U can roughly guess the opponents move by their facial expression, body language and technique displayed.

We played a great game. Myself as Centre, Chin Siang as Forward-Left, Tabitha as Forward-Right, Kuan Yang as Defender-Left and Sabrina as Defender-Right. Everyone played as a team. We were a team made of freshies. Me and Kuan Yang just started playing for 4 months, Chin Siang 2 months, Tabitha.. mayb just a few weeks.. and Sabrina who has been out for a year due to injuries.

It was cool playing an offensive game against the stronger team which consist of Pr. Edward, Serene Tan, Irwin Choo, Melissa Leng, Jay Kum and even Petit … :) In terms of experience, exposure and skill level, they had the upperhand. But… we played our hearts off. Putting everything that we had against the GALACTICOs.

Nice game. Melissa scored the most against us. haha.. her long shots kill us most of the time. Well.. we had no Goalie.. :) Kuan Yang had to block her shots with his trademark- "Peter Lim" style body block, haha i dunno wat u call tat.. This guy is my favourite defender. Reliable and hardworking. U can trust him on the job. He is after all my "MR RELIABLE". I realised that in a team, everyone must trust each other, only then, we can play out our true game. Because i can trust Kuan Yang, i am more daring to try new ways and styles beyond conventional ways of penetrating the oppositions defense.

When both Tabitha and Sabrina scored, i cant believe it that i actually shouted " I LOVE U".. We were crazy. Chin Siang was running Amok all the way… attacking from the wings on both sides running with the ball, trying to penetrate the stiff defense of the opposition team. His workrate is first class.

Most of my attacks were futile against the likes of Jay Kum, a good goalie.. :) But after a string of misses, i got my breakthru.. scoring with a back-hand which i was practising the whole week.

Pr. Edward suggested that for the last goal, whoever concedes the goal, the whole team will have to pump 20 times. I was afraid at first. But then… guess wat.. Sabrina scored the killer tat put their whole team into workout of 20 pumps.

Wat a game. Wish to have more of this sort of games in times to come… :)

WHY CHURCH IS IMPORTANT TO ME

FRONTLINERS are power-packed people purposed in their hearts to
place God as their utmost priority; putting on the armour of God and
pushing back the forces of darkness to prepare the way for the pivotal
event- the coming of the Prince of Peace

I feel so blessed everytime i come back from church.

Friends, for those who dont know, i attend Reservoir Garden Baptist
Church (RGBC). Our Youth Ministry is called THE FRONTLINERS. Yes, I am
a frontliner.

Some people dont know, that i live in Butterworth, but i attend a church in Penang island. There are many people who ask me, why travel so far…? I will answer, because this church is where GOD wants me to be. It is where GOD wants me to go that matters. And because its God’s calling for me to attend this church, It is the best church ive ever attended in my lifetime.

I love my church very very very much. I just cant understand y some ppl quit church. Its the place where God’s people meet. And i happen to be in a church full of first generation christians. Now i realised that… i am not alone.

Ppl in church are always encouraging me to move on in life. Despite the fact that i am a terrible sinner and failure in life. I praise GOD for changing me this far. It is beyond my imagination that i am living my life like this right now… :)

One of the best things about getting involve in church is about seeing how GOD can change lives. I have seen how Jesus has changed many lives. I am one of them.

All the christians that ive bumped into in the past, has been the foundation of my walk with GOD. GOD sent these crazy and PASSIONATE JESUS disciples to be a guideline for me. Everytime i want to fall, i will always look up to my brothers and sisters in-CHRIST whom are running their race. And i will stand still, cos i dun want to be left out of catching GOD in action. Somehow, GOD tends to send people to be an inspiration to me, people with the same problem with me, to encourage me. I cant name all, there are too many cos JESUS has many followers. That is why, church fellowship is one of our purpose in life. One day the whole earth will be packed with GOD’s people.

Church is not just to meet people. Its not just a place to play floorball. Its not just a place to listen to great music. Its not just a place to check out ah moi s.. :) It is the place…. TO CATCH GOD IN ACTION !!!!

This weeks league

League002
Nowadays, I love every Saturdays. Just cant wait for Saturdays.  Why leh? Bcos… every Saturday, i get to play FLOORBALL. Just cant wait to play an extra game… :)

A good game of floorball can make my day shining bright.. like the sunshine.

That person in the picture dribbling the ball with the
Yellow - Orange socks and shoes is me. Ppl use to ask me y u wear such colorful socks and shoes… the answer is because.. when im playing floorball… Im ON FIRE.. on the court. Lotsa ppl commented they like the color.. hehe…

We had our 3rd week or 3rd round of the 6 week league… Well.. i must say, this weeks game was our worst performance… dunno why.. perhaps, we didnt have enough players. We lacked organisation.  Our play was sort of messy… and chaotic… i was sort of tired running up and down. Some of our players, just wasnt having their day… at least 2 of my teammates complained to me that today theyre not in the "MOOD"… no form… which is kinda true…

u c… this is a team game. If 1 suffers … all suffers… as i said before, there are no superstars… everyone is important. But… anyway… im proud of my team… :) GO GO ONE WAY !!!!!!

The standard of the other teams suddenly improved tremendously… All teams played very well. Again… i must say THANK YOU for RAISING THE STANDARDS… its getting even more and more fun playing with u guys. Now I harus terus berusaha dengan lebih tekun lagi… GAMBATTE NE…

FLOORBALL

16504_1_1

Ok.. tis picture over here may look new to many… tit is Floorball … In case u dun know what is floorball… let me introduce 2 u… the most fasting growing sport in the world… called floorball…

It just like in indoor hockey, but its gameplay is more like ice hockey…It is played by 5 players aside with a goalkeeper in each teams. The international size is supposed to be like maybe the size of say.. 3 basketball courts… :) Becos this is a fast paced game, substitutions are allowed anytime during the game. This game started of in Sweden and then it went to the whole scandinavian countries like Finland, Norway, Czech, Switzerland … and now… can say almost the whole world. The whole floorball history is about 20 years in the world… and in Malaysia… its only 2-3 years old. But trust me… this sport is super addictive… like football… Its the next big thing.. One more thing bout floorball is tat… even gals play it… and they play pretty well… there are many that play better than guys… oops.. its true u know…

Ive just started playing floorball early this March. Im now playing for the Frontliners floorball club. At first, i pick it up for the purpose of Evanglism. Then, i got hooked to it.. Now.. im in love with the sport.. Planning to take up Floorball seriously. U only live once.. so get the best out of it.

I believe that this sport is a tool that God gave to us to impact lives.. that was the vision behind the Frontliners(my church’s youth ministry) floorball ministry, so im working on it right now… putting all my heart to it… praying everyday that, with floorball as an evanglistic tool, we as a church can impact more and more lives… and let Jesus be glorified… This sports has improved my character, and also given me a chance to know more people, and most importantly giving me lots of oppurtunities to share the Gospel.

Currently the Frontliners are organising an inter club league, called the FRONTLINERS LEAGUE… with 4 teams. 3 teams from our church, and another 1 invited from Sri Pelita school. Met a lot of good players along the way. Thank you all for raising the standard of the game… it couldnt have been better… :) of course theres always room for improvement. My team’s name in the league is ONE WAY. And Im so proud of my teammates. Everyone gets to play.. :) there are no superstars, cos everyone is important.

Most of my life nowadays revolve around Floorball, so all i can say is… ill be updating a lot bout floorball.

Wanna play floorball? Give me a call at 012-2512460 or mail me at lepakchan@yahoo.com. Our training is every saturday 8.30am to 11.30am ( at times it goes longer than that.. hehe ). Dun worry if u dont have a floorball stick, we will provide. And its free. No extra fees charged. Just make urself available. Its played by people of all ages from 12- 40 years old. There are international players whom are in their 30s, so ure never to old to start. Give it a try, and i know, u’ll love it.
