A Good experience in FLOORBALL !!!

Frontliners 3 Contact Sports 2

Yea… we finally won the game against Contact Sports, 3-2. 1 goal each from Kuan Yang, Steven and Serene Tan sealed our victory against Contact Sports. Contact Sports got their 2 goals from their goalkeeper turned forward, Scott. Unfortunately for Contact Sports, their key player Edward Lim wasnt around to play for them. Ms Penny Khoo, was the player that kept the team sustaining throughout the game through her commanding role in defense. At a moment, the were actually on the way to win us. They scored the first goal. Fortunately, the Frontliners kept their spirits right. And that made us

won the game. However, from what ive heard, the return match will be tougher. It seems theyve got a secret plan for the next game against us. We’ll see how it goes.

Dalat 9 Frontliners 3
Although we won contact sports, we lost the game against Dalat 3-9. But ive got no hard feelings bout it. I didnt feel sad at all, which i usually do. The game against Dalat was a new experience for me. Playing against bigger, more experienced, faster and better players, i must say we are in a different league. For your info, team Dalat is formed by Dalat international school. This means we are playing against Ang Mohs(caucasians) that are bigger and taller than us. And the best part of the game, is to be able to play against our Malaysian National squad players.

Aggressive Play
One thing i like playing against Ang Moh is that, theyre tough. Even if u played more aggression, they wont be complaining… :) For some one my size, believe it or not i shouldered one Ang Moh whose taller than me to the benches. Dun play play with me.. keke.. i growed up playing football wit bigger and taller players(when i was a teenager, i was the shortest among my collegues, i wasnt naturally tall). He asked for it, he pushed me first. Of course ill push back. But in the end of the day, no hard feelings. :)

I didnt throw my stick. It flew.
There was one part in the game, i knocked my stick on the ground. But wat happened was, the stick flew away. Everyone, including my teammates, spectators and the referee thought i throwed my stick. No No No… u all got me wrong… :) I wasnt even angry. Just a little annoyed. The referee stopped the game. I almost got an unnecessary 2 minutes sent off. I guess, people misunderstand me cos ive built a bad reputation for myself all this while for my temper.. hahaha… it runs in the family. Those whom have been close to me knew tat i wasnt angry… :) Thanx for the trust.

Sarsi-the marksman
One of their player, the no.11, Malaysian National Player, Sarsi impressed me trumendously. Hes shown me how far floorball can go. First time playing floorball, i have this feeling called FEAR. I got scared throughout the whole game that i couldnt play. My hands just cant do what i usually do.

Hes ball control is so good. He is the most accelerated player ive ever met. He can easily dribble past all of us. His spin-offs are as fast as his running. Hes shots are fast. And the best part is, he could do the air hook. Ive never seen people doing airhook in front of me before. And he does all of this at will.

Empowered for excellence !!!
After playing the whole game, negative thoughts kept clouding my mind. I thought of retiring floorball. I was considering where I am in floorball, ive got a long way to go. But after the game, when everyone went back, i interviewed that player i mentioned. Hes very humble for someone at his level. He gave me lots of tips and makes it sound that its achievable to play like him. :) I felt encouraged after talking to him. And not just tat, im also excited on working towards a higher level of play. Although i thought those guys are good. They arent unbeatable… :) they lost their first match against Innebandy 8-4. Good individual skills still have to give way to good team play. Floorball is just exciting. The future is ours !!!

THE HEAT IS ON !!! Frontliners vs Contact Sports

THE PENANG FLOORBALL LEAGUE IS FINALLY HERE !!! in fact it started last saturday. Well… 2molos gonna be the first time ill be engaging myself in the state level Penang League. This is just too good to be true. I just cant wait for tommorow.

I will be playing as a defender for the FRONTLINERS FLOORBALL CLUB. I use to play as a forward those days. But ever since i changed from a right hand shooter into a left hand shooter, ive been playing the guardsman role. I would still prefer to play a role in attack, but well.. no choice, the coach has made his decision. I will abide by it. Since everyone wants to play in attack, i had make way for the more talented ones… :)

Tomorrow, we the Frontliners will be doning our traditional red colour jersey for the very first time. This will be our proper jersey. I like the jersey cos it looks a little bit like manchester united’s red jersey… Kekeke… I had the honor to wear the number 7 jersey on my back. People ask me why u choose number 7? Is it because of christiano ronaldo? My answer is no. Im from the old school generation. I like number 7 because of ERIC CANTONA.. monsieur genius.. the talismatic frenchmen.. hes the reason i supported MU. He will always be my all time MU favourite player. Hmm.. btw, did u know that GOD created the world in 7 days…

The Match Analysis.

We will be facing CONTACT SPORTS in our first match. A team tat has won my respect as a floorball player. I must say, they have unity in their team. You can see that they enjoy playing together. I dont know how will we fare against them. Fyi, Contact Sports emerged as the 2nd runner up in the recent dalat league. Their key player will be the experienced Pr Edward in attack. Hes fast, tough and strong. Possesses good firm basics. Very intelligent player whom happens to be good at making use of other players in attack. A good team player. Henry Cheang will most probably start up as their attacker upfront with Sarah Ng and Si Min. Henry will provide some pace and energy for the team. In defense they will have the hard tackling defender, ms Penny Khoo, along with Peter Lim and Weang Honn. Ms Penny Khoo, although small in size, shes a tough nut to crack. She knows her role the best. Plays very well in her defensive game. Together they form one of the most stubborn defense in the league. Theyve got ppl like Melissa Leng with hard shots. This team has many woman national players in the squad. This will definitely boost up its chances of winning.

For our Frontliners, we arent too far behind. With experienced players like Captain Marvel, Steven Tay in the centre role, we will be billing on him to create the goals. A pillar of strength in the team. We have a national player, ms Serene tan as our sharpshooter. If anyone of us should score, this gal will be one of them. Not forgetting the calmest defender in the team, Mr Kenny Khoo. We’ll be betting on his hard long shots as well. Our key player will be our ace, Khor Kuan Yang whom will probably be starting as the left forward. Good ball controls, Good wrist shot coupled with enterprising runs makes him the man who can turn the match around. If he plays well, we’ll have a fair chance of winning. In the danger zone we have ms Sharron tan as our goalkeeper. Another added advantage in defense.

What is my verdict? im not sure either. Both teams have their strength and weaknesses. One thing for sure, these 2 teams know each other very well. In attack, the Frontliners have an over supply of attackers. Many of these attackers are new to the game, but highly athletic. They possess the pace and energy to provide constant attack. The question is, can they keep the momentum till the game ends. A weakness in the frontliners team is the lack of team spirit, although we know tat theyre improving on it. Contact sports have the upper hand in this matter. They have good team spirit as ive said before. Contact Sports will have a stronger defense in their line-up. Frontliners are only relying on one sole defender, Kenny Khoo in their defense. They need to diversify. Contact Sports play a very defensive game in the past. Will they conform to this strategy? Time will tell. If Contact Sports shud win, they will do so by breaking the frontliners team spirit. A snap in the team morale, the game is theirs. Frontliners must be careful in this. They musnt lose concentration in the game.

We will see in 2morrows game. May the best team win. As for me, i support both teams since we are sibling teams. But since im playing for frontliners, of course i want us to win lah… keke… All DA BEST !!! GAMBATTE NE !!!

Chinese New Year 2006

Just came back from celebrating chinese new year in KL. Like all chinese people, we will go back to our paternal side on chinese new year eve to have our reunion dinner (Tuan Yuan Fan) with all relatives. For my case it is Alor Setar. We took a 50 minute drive from Butterworth to Alor Setar. It was really cool catching up with relatives once again.

My Cousin’s BF

One cousin of mine just came back from UK. This year is a little special for her. She brought back her boyfriend and introduced to all of us. My cousin is a pharmacist based in Manchester. Her boyfriend is a researcher in the university of Manchester. I sort of like this guy. Good personality and credentials. Hes a PhD holder in somekind of software engineering. To get urself attached in a foreign university doing research, tats impressive to me. As usual, relatives like to comment everytime someone bring back a potential husband back. I find this ridiculous. My cousin is in her 30s. Even if hes a bad guy, just get married. How bad can he be? Since my cousin is such a fussy person. But then, this time their comments on the guy is good.So I think they should get married at once. Tats it, i wont bring any gal back home, until i get married. Critics are just hard to please.. :) My parents will be the hardest nut to crack… :P Nah.. not a problem for me since ive never asked for their opinion on my personal stuff anyway.

Mee-Suah

On the first day of chinese new year, my mom will always cook mee-suah with hard boiled eggs. Its a tradition for most hokkien clan. Mee suah represents longevity. If thats true, then ill have a long life since i ate 3 bowls. :P( lame lame)

I went to KL immediately after eating those mee-suah. Everyone except my dad went down to KL. This years a bit special for me. This is the first time my parents allowed me to drive them to KL. All this while its my mom who drives. Looks like im beginning to gain more of their trust nowadays.

Chinese New Year food

While food in my fathers side is horrible ( trust me its bad ), food in my mothers side is good. I cant live without eating babi. I love the tu kah hai sem (pigs leg with sea cucumber) my aunt cooked. My aunt cooked this intestine, pork ribs with lotus soup. I think I drank at least 3 big bowls. Who cares, its too good to resist. This year we only ate at home. No tai thong (restaurant in KL, we will eat 10 course dinner) this year. Economy not so good. So we ate at home.

Visiting relative whom i dun even know their name.

I went to visit 2 of my grand uncles in malacca. Now i know where does my sanguinism comes from. My 2 grand uncles(my maternal side grand mothers brother) have this very strong sanguine trait. They are in their 60s, yet, they are so active and highly animated. And the kids just love them. They never grow up. I just cant stop laughing the whole listening to them crapping all the way. Those guys talk very loud. It sounds as though their gonna get into a fight or brawl. And i find that most of the things they say, just doesnt pass thru their mind before coming out from their mouth. ( one of my grand uncle keep asking my uncle to drink beer. My uncle said cannot, cos hes driving. My grand uncle said, nevermind, if police stop u, just tell them my name. Macamlah hes the prime minister. Hes just another rubber tapper retiree. who is he la… Tak boleh tehen).

We also went to visit my great grandmother in malacca. Shes 96 this year. Very long life. The sad thing is, shes a already nyanyuk. She couldnt even recognise anyone. All she kept saying was, please come and visit me when u all r free. Frankly, i really respect the family tats taking care of her. I dun even know wat is their connection with me( i think its my grandfather’s brother and sister). It takes a lot of effort and patience to take care a centenarian(ppl living more than 90 years old). My great grand mother is small in size and shes a hunch back. I do pity her. But i think wats there to pity, since not many ppl live tat long… shes very fortunate.. :)

Chinese New Year was great. I really enjoyed spending time with family. I wonder wats wrong with me nowadays, Im becoming more and more like a family kind of person. Kekekeke… well tats a good thing rite? Of course, it shows that im settling down soon.. :P
