The Passionate ROTI CANAI MAN..
Theres this indian uncle selling roti canai at sitt tatt garden hawker centre in Jalan Raja Uda, Butterworth. U guys must go and see how this fella sells his roti canai man….one word, Passion…
Just now i went there to have my supper with my brother…(keke… parents not around so we curi curi keluar makan.. :P)… this roti canai man.. just catch my attention since those days that i decided to promote him here in my blog. Those of u from butterworth shud know who im talking about
All he does to earn a living is selling roti canai. I think this is his calling la. U see this man, u see roti canai in his blood. First of all, when he prepares his roti canai, u can see full enthusiasm coming from this man. The action, the movement, the technique, wah sai… technically flawless. I like the way he goyang the roti canai. He really wallops the whole dough, until its superbly even. And he does it again and again. U can hear piap ! piap !! … non stop. And when he spreads the roti, its like hes playing rodeo like a cowboy. And he does it at full speed. Its certainly entertaining seeing the master roti canai seller performing his trade. His eyes, was so focused on his job, yet his whole body was autotelic.
And…He does it all alone. One man show… ( individual skills… keke). I saw him, so semangat, i oso ordered 2 kepingla… although ive eaten wan tan mee with extra wan tan. I counted the time he took to prepare, 5 minutes… (from the time i called till the time it arrived.). And when he brought the roti to my table, guess what … i ask him berapa? he answered me in HOKKIEN… khor si , means RM 1.40. I kena stunner terus… dunno wan to speak in hokkien or bahasa melayu. I mah give him RM 2…. he summore ask me back in hokkien, ooo tah li bo? means got small coins or not, refering to the 40 cents. Wah sai… this guy must have done his cultural studies… he knows how to adapt with his environment.
Finally, u all must be asking…. how does it taste? Well… ive been eating his roti canai since i was in primary skool, now im working, ….. IT STILL TASTE AS GOOD AS BEFORE !!! I dunno how he does his quality control over the years, but hes good. The dough, i believe its home made. Its wangi, crispy and tasty. He only had one kind of curry. But his curry is specially made for roti canais… trust me… its complementary, like kunci dengan mangga.
Things to be learnt.
haha… for everything seen by the eyes theres always something to learn, even from the roti canai man.
I learnt from this uncle, that , when u have passion, people can see it. People know it. If people dun see ur passion, means uve got none. And when u have passion, that energy flows from inside of u to ur surrounding, that it starts impacting others. I bought his roti canai, just by seeing the way he makes it. I dunno how to say, but when u see people putting all their heart into something, u just love them.
If we want to excel in anything, we must always enjoy it first. This uncle just enjoys his work. From here, he picked up the spirit of excellence. I guess tats why it still taste as good as it always been.
Haha… i must be crappy, wat do u think? i sincerely admire this guy. I guess im also learning to apply passion in my life as well. Passion…
passion for GOD, passion in floorball, passion in learning. keke… 1 day i must take his photo and post it here…
